Buzz: Dell to sell mobile phones?

A Dell Inc. executive said April 1 that the computer maker has room to be more experimental with consumer gadgets, but declined to comment on whether it plans to sell mobile phones, reported Reuters.

"There's nothing to comment on at this point," said Alex Gruzen, senior VP of Dell's consumer product group in the report. "At the end of the day, we are about connecting customers, whether it's at their business or their home."

Gruzen also noted in the report that Dell's PC-based relationships with mobile wireless carriers had "created enormous opportunities."

Analysts foresee Dell entering the mobile phone market as it expands its consumer business. Gruzen said a number of obstacles have been removed in Dell's consumer business, giving the PC maker "room to be a bit more experimental" with products.
